Description

A radio station changes our social landscape.

Follow me onto the Boston Common lawn, smoke a joint or two, protest a war, sing some folk songs then let's head up to the Boston Tea Party and rock out to the music of The Who, Led Zeppelin, Nico and The Velvet Underground. Thus, began the WBCN recording studio, the first alternative FM rock station that revolutionized radio, as well as contributed to liberating voices in a censored landscape. Through extraordinary original sights, and stories, this documentary chronicles the free-form radio station and Boston's other underground media, from 1968 to 1974. The air waves vibrate as Patti Smith poetically lists obscenities. The table turns on the government as WBCN news team reveals an FBI coverup. The vibes seduce, then shake you awake! - Kimy Martinez
