3:00PM -- 3D 360 VIDEO PRODUCTION BEST PRACTICES
Interested in learning more about creating immersive experiences? Come learn more about the best practices and workflows associated with filming in 360. No more framing a shot. With 360 everything is in frame. Learn about considerations and tradeoffs when filming in 360. Will discuss 360 camera design tradeoffs and comparisons, talk about emerging accessories to support different filming techniques, and what is required to produce live events in 360.

Presenter: Joshua Dixon, Emerging Products at Samsung; and John Furton, VR Content at Samsung

Joshua Dixon works in the emerging products division at Samsung, one of the industry leaders in 360 video. Joshua joined Samsung after gaining extensive research and development experience in the U.S. Marine Corps. Samsung is bringing 360 content to the consumer market with its revolutionary Gear 360 cameras and Gear VR headsets. Come hear Joshua explain Samsung’s current innovative technology at his workshop on “360 Cameras” and learn what the future of the 360 video market is going to look like.

The rapid advancement of technology is constantly reshaping the way VR is produced. Similarly, it is tossing aside artistic limitations and revolutionizing the future of media. Come learn about some of this technology paving the way for the creation of content that you’ve never thought possible.

Presenter: Buzz Hays, Head of Product at Lytro, Inc.

Buzz Hays is Head of Product at Lytro Inc., the award-winning company using light field technology to radically change the future of immersive entertainment. He began working at Lytro after founding the Sony 3D Technology Center, creating the Stereoscopic 3D Production Program at UT Austin, and founding the Advanced Imaging Society. Lytro is working to implement the generational shift from legacy 2D imaging to 3D volumetric Light Field video for VR, AR, and MR. In his workshop about “Leading Edge VR Tech”, Hays will discuss Lytro and other emerging technologies paving the way for the creation of high quality immersive entertainment.

3:00PM -- PART I - WHAT WORKS IN VR?
VR is still an emerging field and its future remains a mystery. How will humanity consume this exciting new medium? What techniques will creators employ to create the best, most engaging content? What will be the magical ingredients of successful virtual reality?

Presenter: Max Salomon, Executive VR and 360 Producer at Black Dot Films

Max Salomon is a multiple Emmy award-winning executive producer, writer and director of documentaries & non-fiction programming who recently co-founded Black Dot Films VR, a leading VR and 360 film production company. Black Dot has already produced more than 30 VR films for National Geographic, which have racked up more than 150 million views. Additionally, he serves as creative director for VR advertisements commissioned by large international consumer brands. He believes in the importance of putting “the story and content first” when it comes to VR. Hear him discuss his incredibly successful philosophy at his “What Works in VR” workshop.

Limert Fabian is an Emmy-award winning director and the executive creative producer at Flight School, a multi-platform content studio with the goal of telling great stories across emerging tech platforms. He recently directed the critically acclaimed animated short about Usain Bolt, “The Boy Who Learned to Fly”. Come to his workshop about “Creating with AR and VR Technology” to learn about how he is applying his passions for film and storytelling to these exciting new mediums.

Greg Berkin is an entrepreneur and serves as the managing director at Concours Ventures, a Silicon Valley angel capital and private equity group. Among other forms of tech, Concours Ventures invests in augmented reality, mixed reality, and virtual reality, and as a result, Berkin understands what the future of these emerging industries might look like. Come to his “How to Make Money in VR” workshop to learn about the financial opportunities these exciting industries have in store.
