James Cromwell and Geneviève Bujold give powerful performances in a deeply affecting love story.
Cantankerous and stubborn, Craig Morrison (Cromwell) is used to doing things for himself on his rural farm. He’s kept his farm afloat due to the support and love of his wife, Irene (Bujold), who’s just as tough as he is. When Irene’s health begins to fail, Craig must use his skills to build a new home that is more suitable to his wife’s care. And all seems well, until a government inspector makes it his personal mission to halt Craig’s construction.
Based on a true story, director Michael McGowan’s Still is, at its heart, a love story about a couple with a deep and rich past together. And both Cromwell and Bujold play perfectly off each other with nuanced, layered performances.
