Description

An adventure like no other, on the islands of Tonga...

With an abundance of dry humor, beautiful cinematography, and a pure love of the people of the island Kingdom of Tonga, the tale of Flying Fox becomes an amusing allegory of a man learning about the world. Flying Fox has never been outside of his island. At the direction of his chief, Flying Fox ventures out from the comforts he has known. When he meets warring villages (who don’t know why they hate each other…just that it’s tradition to hate each other), he begins to absorb knowledge and learn new lessons, which he brings home with startling results. Alex Bernstein’s cleverly crafted saga is told as a “journey inward and a journey outward.” Soane Prescott’s brilliant depiction of Flying Fox is a dynamic blend of drama and comic genius. The first movie shot in Tonga, When the Man Went South is creative storytelling at its finest.
